TBD Lounge
An events-tech startup needed a mobile MVP to connect global communities around live events — validated and launched in 45 days.
Project Overview
TBD Lounge is a community and events MVP built for a startup founder who wanted to connect people around global events — conferences, summits, and industry meetups. The concept was to give attendees a better way to discover events, engage before they arrive, and network during them. We built the MVP to validate whether users would actually use and return to the platform.
Technologies Used
The Challenge
The founder needed to test a core assumption: would people sign up and engage with an events discovery app, or would they just stick with existing tools like Eventbrite or LinkedIn events? The MVP had to be compelling enough to get real sign-ups and session data — but fast and lean enough to pivot if the first version missed the mark.
Our Solution
We built TBD Lounge in Flutter for a polished cross-platform experience from a single codebase. NestJS and PostgreSQL handled the backend, with RESTful APIs powering event data and user interactions. Push notifications and personalized event feeds were prioritized as the core engagement loops. We kept version one focused on browse, discover, and save — RSVP and in-app networking were scoped for version two.
Results
TBD Lounge launched in 45 days. The founder onboarded early users from their existing network and used engagement data (session length, event saves, return visits) to validate that the discovery experience was the strongest hook. The MVP gave them clear signals on what to build next — without burning six months on assumptions.
